Real Weddings: Kristin and Josh

Check out these drool worthy photos (by amazing photographers Michael and Anna Costa) from a recent wedding we did at the beautiful Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. The bride and groom chose OVIS for its “natural beauty” and the chose colors to reflect this and the “surrounding mountains and the famed Pink Moment when the sun goes down and reflects off the mountains–which we planned for right after the ceremony.” For the wedding design, they went with “a classic, vintage feel to match the Spanish Colonial style of the OVIS.” We asked Kristin to share with us a few details from the big day:

What was your favorite design element of your big day:

All of the clothes! Allison Leach is a brilliant designer/stylist who helped the bride and groom look their best according to their values, AND created unique designs for each of the bridesmaids and groomsmen. We are so proud that our wedding party looked just as good as we did. Allison designed each dress for the the specific bridesmaid, and created the overall look (with custom-made ties) for the groomsmen. She worked very hard with us to bring out each person’s individual style and strength within the overall design of the wedding. It made the process challenging, dynamic, and the result was a number of individual elements coming together as a beautiful whole.

What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding?

We took a long time to plan the wedding–about a year–while taking no real break from our day-to-day lives. As the process goes on, everything ramps up and seems to require more and more attention with less and less time as the day approaches. Feeling on top of all the moving parts was a huge challenge–though a good friend who had been married the year before us gave us great advice about a month before the actual day: If you take care of all the minute details, great–but if not, don’t let something inconsequential ruin all the work that you’ve put in. The wedding will be fun if you make it fun; nothing else, in the end, really matters.

What advice would you give to a couple planning their wedding?

Have fun. Remember that the process is just as much about learning about each other and how to work together as a couple to create a beautiful event to share with your loved ones as it is about manifesting your dream day. We wanted to make our wedding not just about our love, but the love of family and friends. The entire time we felt so blessed that so many of our favorite people were going to such lengths to be with us on our day that we couldn’t help but make it about them because they were and are our inspirations. Without their love and support throughout the years our love and marriage would not have been possible. That awareness helped us to keep cool when things got hot.

Why did you choose to work with All You Need is Love Events?

We chose All You Need is Love as our coordinators because they were fun, playful, very experienced, supremely organized (a must!) and intelligent. We trusted them completely to drive our rather large ship the week of the wedding, which was such a great relief and allowed us to relax and have fun.
