A week later and we are still excited from our amazing trip to Nashville to visit Lisa and Nick’s BEAUTIFUL home and site of their wedding. We were welcome to Tennessee by being taken straight to some amazing bars that had some phenomenal drinks and bites. Our favorite was The Patterson House . The Patterson House was named in honor of former Tennessee Gov. Malcolm R. Patterson, who vetoed the return of statewide prohibition in 1909. The governor contended prohibition should be decided at the local level rather than by the state. The Legislature overruled Patterson’s veto. As one writer put it, “(The Patterson House)..is best described as an echo of a prohibition era speakeasy.Hidden in plain sight, the venue is literally a house. Nondescript, unmarked, on a quiet street just off of music row… you have to know that it’s there, and you have to be looking to find it. If not for the line of people in front on a Friday or Saturday night, you probably will drive by it a couple of times, and you won’t be sure you’ve found it until you read “The Patterson House” in small gold letters emblazoned on the front door.” (via here).

What makes this place extra special besides the cool decor and neat name is the ice. Yes you read that right. THE ICE. While drinking our cocktails we noticed that the ice was made into one solid shape depending on what type of glass we were drinking from. The owners of the Patterson House say, “We know it sounds crazy, but ice can completely change the way a drink tastes…Our business partners [Toby Maloney and Jason Cott] have been passionate about this style of a bar program for over 10 years and have made the comparison: Ice to a bartender is like a stove to a chef…Having the wrong type of ice can dramatically change what someone might like…When you use ice you might find at home, it immediately changes your drink because some of the ice will melt instantly when added to the cocktail.” ( via here).
Our bride and groom are using this beautiful and amazing bar to inspire their cocktail menu. It will definitely be an amazing wedding with an amazing bar out at Shady Lane Farms. We can’t wait to share it with you!
Oh Martha…must you do all things right?

Clothesline displayed escort cards have been making a huge splash in the wedding world and we totally are jumping in! One adorable idea we saw at Forget Me Knot is these simple clothespins attached with a die cut heart. These told people what table they were seating at and lead them into the main room. The heart theme then continued to the place cards left at each individual seat. Sweet and simple. Perfect to welcome your guests into your special day with love.
We were so excited to see Joanna Tano’s gorgeous pictures of our Maui wedding bride and groom, Justin and Gretchen Helling. We truly adore this couple and their wedding was one of the most amazing ones we’ve been to…especially because you could really feel the love in every aspect of their day. What a perfect day for a perfect couple.

I saw this fabulous idea on Sunday Suppers in which the featured a “buffet style” martini bar in which guests could create their own martinis! While this might not be the most sound idea for a large wedding, for one that is intimate, this could be a great way to get conversations started. It could also be a fun event for a bachelorette party, bridal shower, or rehearsal dinner (or a Saturday night)!
